AI Launcher - Privacy Policy

Overview

AI Launcher ("the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that provides quick access to ChatGPT, Gemini, and Mistral through keyboard shortcuts, omnibox search, and a popup interface. This privacy policy explains how the extension handles user data.

Data Collection

The extension does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

The extension:

• Does not collect any user information
• Does not use analytics or tracking services
• Does not send data to any third-party servers
• Does not store personal information

Data Storage

The extension uses Chrome's local storage API to temporarily store search queries, model preferences, and image data (if provided via paste for ChatGPT) on your device only. This data:

• Is stored locally in your browser
• Is never transmitted to any external servers
• Is only used to pre-fill AI model input fields
• Can be cleared by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data

Permissions

The extension requires the following permissions:

• activeTab: Required to interact with AI model pages to pre-fill search queries.
• storage: Required to temporarily store search queries and model preferences locally on your device between page loads.
• windows: Required to display the keyboard shortcut launcher popup window.
• Host permissions (chat.openai.com, chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com, chat.mistral.ai): Required to inject content scripts that automatically fill input fields on AI model websites when you search from the extension.

These permissions are used solely for the extension's core functionality and are not used to collect or transmit any data.

Third-Party Services

The extension opens AI model websites (ChatGPT, Gemini, Mistral) in your browser and pre-fills input fields to help you interact with these services. The extension:

• Does not make direct API calls or send data directly to OpenAI, Google, or Mistral
• Only manipulates the DOM (fills input fields, clicks buttons) on AI service websites
• Does not intercept, modify, or store your conversations with AI services
• Does not interact with any other third-party services

When you submit queries to these AI services (by clicking send or pressing Enter), your data is sent directly from your browser to the AI service through their normal website interface. The extension does not act as an intermediary or proxy for this data transmission.

When you use these AI services, you are subject to their respective privacy policies and terms of service.

Data Security

Since the extension does not collect or transmit any data, there is no risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to your information through the extension.
